Meet Diego and Adelita in Adelita’s Secret
Adelita and Diego are the characters in Adelita’s Secret, a
young adult fantasy romance. Adelita is 17 years old and in high school and
Diego is the man, the soldier she falls in love with when she travels back in
time to 1910. Let’s meet each of them.
Diego, the man is a disciplined soldier, but has
the heart of a lion. He is a farmer, but is wise beyond his years. Diego can
read and write whereas, most peasants in 1910 Mexico could not. He is kind,
gentle, romantic and falls in love with Adelita. Will Diego bring Adelita
closer to embracing her heritage? Can he change the Revolution and Adelita?
Adelita
is lost in a superficial world of materialism and social status. She is loved
by two men that are separated by 100 years, one a poet at heart in her time in
2010, the other a soldier in the 1910 Mexican Revolution. Adelita is ashamed of
her heritage, keeping her Mexican roots secret under green eyes and brown hair.
Adelita finds her great grandmothers diary and steps through the portal of time
to the year 1910 on the battle front lines in the Mexican Revolution, but what
happens to the life she leaves behind? Will her love for Diego, bring her
closer to her Mexican roots?
