Follow Friday

Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?.

The best book that I read in the last month was probably Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick. Selznick is such a master story-teller and always original with his combination of illustrations and text. And because so much of the book is pictures, one could easily read in one sitting, but that doesn't make it any less potent. If you haven't read Wonderstruck yet you really need to, I promise it will be worth it!

I haven't read any bad books this month, but one that I didn't like as much as the others was probably Crossed, which I just finished on audiobook. I think the thing that bugs me the most about this series is the cookie cutter YA love triange. I am not a very love triangle -y person, I mean I have my exceptions *cough* Katniss-Gale-Peeta *cough* Tessa-Jem-Will *cough*, but I think that there are more ways to have your character have romantic tension without it be a triangle, you know what I mean?

  2. Wanderstuck is on my TBR list, so excited for it. And I agree on the overdone love triangle aspect, it's getting really annoying.

  7. I'm sad about Crossed =( I really liked Matched. A few weeks ago I tried to read Crossed but it wasn't working for me, I think because it's been so long since I read the first one.

  11. Hi there! New Follower! I loved The Invention of Hugo Cabret, so I really should read more Selznick. =) I think a lot of people agree with you about Crossed. I've got it sitting on my nightstand and have read the first few pages several times, but then I get depressed because I really liked the first one and it makes me sad that the 2nd book was so disappointing. One day I'll finish it, eventhough it's supposed to be horrible. =)

  19. Hey, I'm a new follower! Nice to meet you. Disappointed to hear you didn't like Crossed. I just finished reading Matched. It was pretty cliche the love triangle thing. I think the best ones are when there is equal feelings for one boy or the other which really didn't happen in Matched so I guess it probably didn't happen in Crossed either.

    Happy Friday!
