“LEGALLY UNDEAD” / MARGO BOND COLLINS

Alpena, MI (May 27, 2014– World Weaver Press (Eileen Wiedbrauk, Editor-in-Chief) has announced Legally Undead, the first novel in Vampirarchy, an urban fantasy series by Margo Bond Collins, is now available in trade paperback and ebook today, Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

Praise for Legally Undead:

“I loved this! Margo Bond Collins spins a delightful and tightly woven tale of intrigue and danger, whose protagonist, Elle Dupree, instantly joins the ranks of the great vampire hunters in a story where the blood sucking fiends are dire and the consequences grim. A truly fun yarn that has left me eagerly waiting the next book!”
— Jenn Lyons, author of Marduk’s Rebellion and the forthcoming Blood Chimera

Finally, a vampire story with bite! Elle is a smart, witty vampire hunter, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to her next.”
— Rebecca Roland, author of The Graveyard Girl andShards of History

A reluctant vampire hunter, stalking New York City as only a scorned bride can. Elle Dupree has her life all figured out: first a wedding, then her Ph.D., then swank faculty parties where she’ll serve wine and cheese and introduce people to her husband the lawyer. But those plans disintegrate when she walks in on a vampire sucking the blood from her fiancĂ©, Greg. Horrified, she screams and runs—not away from the vampire, but toward it, brandishing a wooden letter opener. As she slams the improvised stake into the vampire’s heart, a team of black-clad men bursts into the apartment. Turning to face them, Elle realizes Greg’s body is gone—and her perfect life falls apart.
Legally Undead is available in trade paperback and ebook via Amazon.comBarnesandnoble.comKobo.com, and other online retailers, and for wholesale through Ingram. You can also find Legally Undead on Goodreads.

Guest Post: Ley Hayley

They say to write what you know. That the things that are the closest to your heart are the things that you can put into words and make into something that other people will connect to. I’ve long wondered if that was a good piece of advice. After all, who really knows about magic kingdoms, fairies, and trolls? But some of the best and most beautiful stories in the world are written about things that people couldn’t possibly know.
But there are things that we can write about that are so close to the human condition that everyone can connect to them. I think the most telling thing is heartbreak. It’s something that everyone has gone through at least once in their lives. And why do we go through the trouble of spending our time reading books? It’s because there are tales and stories that draw us in and bring us to a point where we can join in to what is going on in the world around us.
I remember the first time I read a book about heartbreak. It wasn’t romantic heartbreak though. It was Lois Lowry’s Number the Stars, a book I read a thousand times as a kid. I still read it every now and then just because it’s a wonderful book. But it isn’t even about a relationship that falls apart. It’s about a family that is shattered by the horrors of Nazi occupation. And it always made me think about how family isn’t just about blood.
I think about that as I write these days, especially as I’m working on the new Elemental Royals novel. Family isn’t about blood, and heartbreak doesn’t always have to be romantic. It’s never that simple, and there are always consequences that can make things worse than they were in the beginning. I suppose I try to figure out how to attach these kinds of ideas to my novels—these timeless themes that make people think and bring them to novels over and over again.
I don’t want to be a classic. I just want to be someone’s favorite.

Fire's Princess will be available on Amazon and Smashwords on June 4th

Excerpt: Earth Drummer

Excerpt from the new book; Earth Drummer by Echo Fox, book 2 in the Equilibria Series available now on Amazon Kindle:

‘Now, you’ve seen already a small amount of what we can do. A dream walk into the shadow land can be used to great effect to banish bad spirits, summon good ones, talk with one’s totem –‘
‘I can talk to Tern in the shadow land?’ burst out Gentian, excitedly. Flecks of berry-stained bread flew from his mouth and Tarek made a small moue of distaste.
Embarrassed, Gentian wiped his mouth and tried again.
‘What do you mean, ‘talk’ with Tern?’ he asked, trying to spell out his question with a more dignified air than an excited two year old.
‘Just that.’ Said Tarek, annoyingly blasĂ© about the whole business. ‘Now, pay attention.’
‘But…’
Tarek fixed Gentian with a look and Gentian lowered his eyes and continued to eat his breakfast.
Not fair, to just drop a gem of information like that and then not explain it! He thought to himself.
Tuning back in to what Tarek was saying, Gentian began to listen closely in fascination.
‘You’ve got the sorcerers in Pyrrhos, with their flashy magics.’ Said Tarek, offhandedly. ‘But that’s fire for you; quick to catch and quick to blow out.’
He paused.
‘Earth magic is slower, it takes time. Earth magic is not instant gratification - but if you put down good roots, the magic grows strong.’
Gentian nodded, wide eyed.
‘It is worth remembering that, Gentian.’ Tarek said, looking past his pupil and down the path leading up from the stronghold. Gentian turned to look and saw two visitors coming slowly up the winding pathway, a basket full of Shaman gifts clutched in one of their hands. Sighing, Gentian tidied away breakfast, knowing that now the theory was over and it was time for a practical lesson to begin.’

Townie. That's what eighteen-year-old Christina Sundy is. All year round she lives in a one-stoplight town on Cape Cod, and when summer comes, she spends her days scooping ice cream for the rich tourists she hates. So when one of them takes a job in the ice cream shop alongside her, she's pissed. Why does a blonde and perky Harvard-bound rich girl like Reese Manning want to scoop ice cream anyway?

Something else weird is happening to Christina: tiny blue sparks seem to be shooting off her fingers. It isn't long before she realizes the truth about herself—she's actually a powerful hereditary witch. But her newfound powers are too intense for her to handle and, in a moment of rage, she accidentally zaps Reese into another dimension.

So that no one will notice that the rich girl has disappeared, Christina casts a disguising spell, or "glamour," and lives Reese's life while she tries to find a retrieval spell. But as the retrieval spell proves harder than anticipated, and as she goes about living Reese's life without anyone on the outside noticing the switch, Christina realizes that there's nothing to stop her from making the glamour permanent... except, of course, her fellow witches, a 16th century demon, and, just maybe, her own conscience.

Announcement: Red Moon Romance open to submissions

RED MOON ROMANCE
NEW IMPRINT OF WORLD WEAVER PRESS
OPENS TO 2014 SUBMISSIONS

Alpena, MI (May 15, 2014) – World Weaver Press (Eileen Wiedbrauk, Editor-in-Chief) has announced the launch of their new imprint, Red Moon Romance, with the opening of 2014 submissions today, Thursday, May 15, 2014.

“Red Moon's been our baby for a while now,” commented Wiedbrauk. “Truth be told, we started planning Red Moon long before we launched World Weaver Press, our fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction publishing house.  We love our World Weaver Press titles, authors, and readers; we're inordinately proud of what we've accomplished in two short years. Now we're ready to see our original, romance-centric concept come to fruition, to papers and pixels, and to hot steamy love stories!”

Red Moon Romance is now accepting submissions to three big, sexy anthologies Too Alpha to HandleSexy Secret Santaand Demons, Imps, and Incubi. For full submission guidelines and details, visit: www.redmoonromance.com/submit.

Too Alpha to Handle: He's so alpha she can't stand him . . . but oh, does she want him. Strong Alpha Males -- whether they're CEOs, Doms, or leaders of the local werewolf pack -- make our blood race with their sexy confidence, take-charge attitudes, and protective instincts. We're looking for feisty heroines; give us a heroine who wants to slap that smug alpha-male smile right off his face almost as much as she wants to see him naked. Take your own notion of "too alpha to handle" and apply liberally!

Sexy Secret Santa: The joy of discovery . . . the delight of unwrapping. Wouldn't your office holiday party be so much better if your secret santa gift involved unwrapping six-pack abs? We're looking for sensual and erotic romances that encapsulate end-of-year holidays and the revealing of a secret: secret gift givers, secret identities, revealing secret crushes, secret yearnings, acting on secret desires (because if you can't say it at Christmas, when can you?), long-held secrets about high school sweethearts or divided lovers that can bring them back together, seductive strangers, blindfolds, family secrets, secret magic lovers who appear only one night of the year... be creative! Be sexy!

Demons, Imps, and IncubiBad boys who go bump in the night. Is a demon's agenda always demonic? Can he be redeemed? Or does being bad feel good? Long ago, imps were more mischievous and playful -- naughty, perhaps? -- and our perception of them has grown more sinister over the centuries. Incubi crave sex, but for what purpose? We at Red Moon won't further define what makes a demon/imp/incubus -- we want to read your stories that answer these questions! -- so if you tell us an imp is a six-foot tall, protective, sexy creature made of smoke and shadows, then we completely agree: that sexy beast is definitely an imp. And so is the next sexy beast, and this next one just happens to be horned and horny. Seduce us. Ensnare us. Set us aflame.

Red Moon believes in sexy romance. We believe reading should be fun. We believe that at their core, romances are relationship stories, and that erotic romances are relationship stories with orgasms in them, not stories about orgasms. We believe our readers deserve whatever fiction incites their passions. We believe that a woman should never be judged or shamed for what she reads. We believe in giving a woman what she wants. Hot romance, it's what we do.

World Weaver Press is a publisher of fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction, dedicated to producing quality works. We believe in great storytelling.

Mailbox Monday: Magyk

I have known about these books for a while, but have never read them. I got this book for free last week and am excited to check it out. I don't read a whole lot of Middle Grade, but I've heard good things about this one!

Synopsis:
The seventh son of the seventh son, aptly named Septimus Heap, is stolen the night he is born by a midwife who pronounces him dead. That same night, the baby's father, Silas Heap, comes across a bundle in the snow containing a new born girl with violet eyes. The Heaps take this helpless newborn into their home, name her Jenna, and raise her as their own. But who is this mysterious baby girl, and what really happened to their beloved son Septimus?

The first book in this enthralling new series by Angie Sage leads readers on a fantastic journey filled with quirky characters and magykal charms, potions, and spells. Magyk is an original story of lost and rediscovered identities, rich with humor and heart.

Cover Reveal: This is Sarah

Ally Malinenko is here today sharing the AWESOME cover for her YA novel, THIS IS SARAH, and giving us a glimpse into her morning. Welcome, Ally!

Cover design by Anita B. Carroll at Race-Point.com
Thanks! So, here's what my mornings look like.

The alarm goes off at 5 am. No wait, that’s not right. It’s before 5 am. My husband nudges me and I murmur five more minutes, please, just five more minutes burying my head under the blanket. Then June, the tabby cat, starts crying. And not your usual meows – these are ear splitting, I’m-dying-give-me-food-now-you-puny-humans sort of cries. Really intense End of the World Ragnarok sort of stuff.

We stumble up and out of bed. Coffee on. Teapot on. Cat fed. Pee. Computer on. Radio on to classical station. Teapot whistles – oh teapot why must you be so loud!

Then I sit in my closet (literally) and write. Sometimes I write poems or stories, provided I managed to think of an idea since yesterday morning. Most times I go back to the current novel. I read through yesterday’s writing. June comes in. She climbs into the empty comic book box on the floor and curls up to sleep. Good. This lasts seventeen seconds. Then she’s trying to climb into my lap. I give in, reading through yesterday’s writing. She stands on my lap and meows at me. I bend my arms around her to rewrite stuff and wonder how one person can switch tenses that quickly. I catch typos. I fix them.

I write. I put June down. I think about my main character – how angry he is right now facing this pain alone. I put words in his mouth. I read them outloud. I cringe. I delete them. The cat jumps up on my lap again. I finish my tea and make more. I write some new dialogue. I look at the clock. The morning is going too fast. I have to get ready for work soon. I write some more. I check my email again. I put June down. She cries. I delete three paragraphs of what I just wrote. I yawn. I get more tea.

I write. I re-read it. I cringe less. I write more. I re-read it. I skip ahead and jot down notes for a future scene. June cries and jumps back in my lap. My husband comes by, reminds me of what time it is. I squeeze out another page but don’t have time to re-read it. I save my work, shut off the radio and get ready for work. I hope tomorrow morning will be just as good. June meows. She hopes so too.
